FM Alexander wrote in 1941,

"After working for a lifetime in this new field I am conscious that the knowledge gained is but a beginning...."

The Performance School is a resource center for the continuing exploration of this new field. Since the school was founded in 1986, we have continually experimented with ways of clearly and simply teaching the principles and practice of the Alexander Technique. The Performance School Online is a place where anyone who wishes to be self-directed in their learning can share in our continuing pursuit of Alexander's inquiry into the nature of human action and reaction.

TPS Online is a resource for:

• Individuals who want to learn independently, either alone, together in groups, or between lessons.

• Teachers and teachers-in-training who want to foster independent learning in their students.

We believe that the essence of Alexander's Technique lies in its simplicity, and it is our hope that TPS Online can serve as a gathering place for a growing community of learners dedicated to cultivating that simplicity in their own actions and in the world around them. We also believe that, as Marjory Barlow has often said, "The Alexander Technique is FUN; it's meant to make you happy." We hope that those who join us here find it as playful a discipline as we do.
